Alpha Mentoring Progam

The Village is a community service organization that specializes in mentoring young black males ages 6 - 18 years old.  The purpose of our mentoring program is to influence the minds of young men to become better men thereby experiencing joy and taking pride in their labor. We perform this great task by providing as many non-traditional real-life experiences as we can find.

 

The Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity inc. has collectively accepted the task of being a resource of positive, educated Black Men.  The purpose of the  Alpha Mentoring Program (A.M.P.) is to give young black males access to wisdom and knowledge through the deliberate coordination of black men who are committed to being a part of the solution.  

 

The Men of Alpha through the A.M.P program has orchestrated community partnerships, fundraising opportunities and sponsored events including but not limited too

  • Tuxedos for the Little Miss Fashionetta program (in support of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.)

  • Awards for the annual Oratorical Contest

  • College Tours

  • Public Speakers

  • Small-Group Life Lessons

  • A Youth Engagement Board

  • 52 escorts mentored participants before 2017

  • Over $10,000 in cash contributions, in-kind donations, scholarships, and Awards

  • School Supplies, College Tours, bi-monthly Mentoring

 

The vision of the Alpha Mentoring Program is to sponsor opportunities that will challenge the current scope of our youth in different areas of life. In 2021, the A.M.P. will engage these young men physically, mentally, and emotionally.  In partnership with The Village, we will take them to a new city thereby expanding their comfort zone, providing a S.T.E.M. program that will cultivate creative thought and provide a healthy meal.  “Breaking Bread” is an opportunity that allows the enhancement of dialogue and the opportunity to strengthen relationships across the generations.  


 

The men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated - Epsilon Lambda Chapter is the spark that will light the flame to positive change in Hyde Park, throughout the greater St. Louis Region, and across the United States.
